Silver Needle is the most prized grade of Chinese white tea, made from tender single buds only. This first-spring lot comes from high-altitude gardens in Panxi, Fuding — the protected home region of authentic white tea. The dry buds stand straight as needles and wear a thick silver down; in the cup they open into a pale champagne liquor with a delicate, downy aroma and a naturally sweet, mellow finish.
Use about 3g with water at 90–95°C in a white porcelain gaiwan or glass pot. First steep ~30 seconds, then add ~10 seconds each round; the buds reward a dozen or more infusions. Glassware lets you watch the needles stand and slowly unfurl.
A thoughtful gift for anyone discovering fine white tea — quiet, elegant and naturally sweet.
