Our Story — Xiyu Tea Since 1996
Three decades of tea, from the mountains of Yunnan
Xiyu Tea was founded in 1996 in Yunnan, China, among the ancient tea-growing mountains that gave the world pu-erh. What began as a small family buying fresh leaves from neighbouring villages has grown, slowly and carefully, into a tea house devoted to one thing: honest, whole-leaf Chinese tea at its very best.
Leaf to cup, no shortcuts
We work directly with family farms in Yunnan and Fujian. When the spring buds are just right, the leaves are hand-picked in the cool morning, then roasted and shaped in small batches within hours. Our tea master cups every harvest — checking the aroma, the liquor and the aftertaste — before it is allowed to carry our name.
Freshness you can taste
Good tea is alive. Each batch is sealed close to the day it is roasted, with nitrogen flushing to protect the leaves on their journey, so a cup made on the other side of the world still tastes of the mountain it came from.
Six families of tea
From delicate green and silvery white tea, through floral oolong and warming black, to deep, ageing pu-erh — we curate the full Chinese tea spectrum, alongside the gaiwans, clay teapots and gift sets that make the ritual complete.
Xiyu Tea — twenty-nine years of patience in every leaf.
